How's this for cold weather? January 20 marks the 60th anniversary of the coldest temperature ever recorded in the contiguous United States.
On this date in 1954, -70° was observed at Rogers Pass in the Rocky Mountains of Montana between Great Falls and Missoula.
This still stands as the coldest temperature ever officially observed in the lower 48.
A sign noting the significant temperature record sits at the top of the pass on Highway 200.
