Arrests made in Glendive murder investigation

GLENDIVE - The Dawson County Attorney's office announced Friday that two arrests have been made in connection with the December 21, 2012, murder of Matthew Wiseman.

Levi Douglass Stark, 22, has been charged with one count of deliberate homicide, one count of arson, and one count of tampering with evidence. He was already incarcerated on 10 counts of violating an order of protection at the time of his arrest.

Jessica Miller-Grossman, 23, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit homicide, arson, tampering with evidence, criminal mischief, and obstructing justice. At the time of her arrest this week she was in an adjudicatory process on three additional felony cases, one containing three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, one involving use and distribution of methamphetamine, and one containing a count of arson by accountability, tampering with evidence, and obstructing justice.

Nearly 300 witnesses are listed by the prosecution in the charging documents.

The charging documents led investigators to follow the trail through several towns in the Mondak region, incluing Billings, Forsyth, Savage and Williston, criss-crossing where the murder occurred in Glendive, Montana.

The charging documents say autopsy results show that Wiseman's cause of death was "multiple stab wounds to the head, neck, left armpit and upper extremity as well as blunt, traumatic injuries to the left face and right jaw."

Bail for Stark and Miller-Grossman has been set at one million dollars each.

Stark's documents show a lengthy criminal record in both Montana and Washington with numerous failure to appear citations. Miller-Grossman's documents filed by the Dawson County attorney's office show a concern for ability to comply with conditions of release in previous cases.

Miller-Grossman is pregnant and the County Attorney's office has made arrangements for her to be housed at the Yellowstone County Jail and access medical appoints with medical specialists already assigned to her.
