GREAT FALLS - Tyrek Becote has been charged with assault with a weapon after reportedly hitting his child with a belt.
Court documents state that employees at a Great Falls daycare called the Department of Family Services to report possible child abuse.
When police investigated, they found that the 6-year old child had "obvious injuries," including what appeared to be belt marks and a puncture wound on his ankle that appeared to have been caused by the metal clip on the belt.
Police then went to the Salon Professional Academy on 2nd Street South, where Becote is a student, on Tuesday afternoon, and he agreed to go to the police department to be interviewed.
Becote admitted that he had discipline the child.
Court documents state that prosecutors requested that bond for Becote be set at $20,000 due to the "violent nature" of the charge and Becote's criminal history.
