A lot goes into a photo shoot for Signature Montana, a glossy magazine headquartered in Great Falls, as evidenced by the activity at the Bowser Brewing Company on Friday.
Luckily everything from the venue to the clothes to the talent is all local, and it's a partnership that makes the magazine work.
Photographer Jim Wells noted, "We're not flying in models from L.A. or anything. Everyone you see in the magazine lives or works around here."
Jen Moore, creative director for Signature Montana, explained, "We tend to try to use our advertisers for our clothing, so they usually let us borrow those."
But just because the magazine doesn't spend a lot of money on its shoots doesn't mean it's small potatoes; staff say the magazine is comparable to some they've worked on in even bigger markets.
Moore noted, "I've lived in 15 different states. I've been able to see it all, which is great, and I've been able to work with some really fantastic photographers. So it's cool to come to a small town and have a chance to work with some great photographers here as well."
Although some of the models are hoping the shoot will take them to bigger and better opportunities, they say it's fun just to be involved.
