Benefis Health System in Great Falls has announced that it will be partnering with Pennsylvania-based Precyse Solutions for health information management needs.

Precyse will oversee transcription, medical record processing, coding and storage.

All 60 employees who currently work in the Benefis medical records department and transcription office will be offered a job with the new company.

A primary reason for the change is Medicare-mandated changes in the medical coding system, which will require sophisticated new technology.

We are told Precyse was chosen for its ability to meet Benefis' complex health information management needs and for their competitive wages.

No medical records will leave Benefis.

Benefis' chief medical quality officer, Dr. Paul Dolan, said in a statement: "We're constantly reviewing our practices to make sure we're efficient and well-positioned to serve our community into the future. We feel this is an important step to ensure that our record-keeping is high-quality and continues to keep pace with ever-changing technology and regulations."

Employees will begin their new positions with Precyse September 19.

Each employee's years of service with Benefis will be grandfathered into their Precyse benefit calculations.
