Former Montana Secretary of State Brad Johnson (Republican) says he is running for the office once again in 2012.
Johnson served at the Capitol from 2005 to 2009. Prior to serving in Helena he was a small business owner in Bozeman.
Johnson was born in 1952 in Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1976 and moved to Montana in 1980.
Johnson says he is running because public service has gotten into his blood and he believes it is the best way to serve Montanans.
"My foremost responsibility was to do everything within my power to preserve the integrity of and Montanans' confidence in our elections process. That will continue to be the single most important guiding principle of my second term," Johnson says.
If elected, Johnson says he will advocate for responsible natural resource development in his role on the State Land Board.
Johnson enters the race against Republican candidate Scott Aspenlieder, and Democrat incumbent Linda McCulloch.
