The Broken O Ranch between Simms and Augusta is nearing the final steps of officially being sold.
The buyer's name and closing price have not been released.
The property was listed at $132.5 million dollars.
Potential buyers were required to put $15 million dollars in escrow at a Helena title company as well as meet eight other prerequisites to be in the running to purchase the property.
The ranch spans three counties - Teton, Lewis & Clark, and Cascade - and covers more than 123,000 acres.
Bates Sanders Swan Land Company is the agency in charge of selling the Broken O; the company is based in Bozeman and specializes in selling ranches and recreational land in the western region of the U.S. and Canada.
On the agency's website listing the property, managing broker Mike Swan said, "The Broken O Ranch is one of the Rocky Mountain West's most significant holdings to come on the Western real estate market in decades. The scale, commodity production, recreational amenities and overall diversity make it one of the most unique offerings we have ever represented."
The site also states that, according to the Fall 2011 issue of The Land Report, the next owner of the Broken O Ranch would take an immediate position as the 89th largest land owner in the United States.
