Our weekly One Class At A Time grant went to first-grade teacher Tammy Edwards in Chinook.

She'll use the $250 to buy a variety of books including classics and some popular children's series to get students at all reading levels excited about the literary world.

Edwards noted, "Some kids are, you know, still working on their sounds and some kids are reading chapter books when they come in, so it is just nice to have something on their level that they can read independently or in a little group."

The books will be shared with other first-grade classes and in some cases with second graders.
