Demontiney facing charges after deadly accident

Henry Mosney has been identified as the 19-year old man killed in a Christmas Eve accident on the Rocky Boy's reservation.

The man driving the vehicle, 24-year old Dawson Demontiney, is facing charges in tribal court of negligent homicide, reckless driving, failure to report an accident, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Mosney was killed when Demontiney's car, which did not have its lights on, struck a horse on a rural road.

The FBI is also investigating the case and Demontiney could face federal charges.

It was previously reported that the crash occurred as the men were being pursued by law enforcement.

Chippewa Cree Tribes Public Safety Director Tim Martin says a tribal officer had tried to execute a traffic stop on the vehicle earlier, but the officer lost contact almost immediately and there was never a pursuit.
