Despite tough economic times and dwindling enrollment, the Dutton/Brady School District has agreed to offer its educators a slight increase to wages and benefits over the next two years.
After recent contract negotiations, school board members and an educator negotiating committee agreed on a small increase to base pay and an increase to the school's contribution for health insurance premiums.
School Board Chair Reed Michael said although the district's salary doesn't compare to other Class C schools, or bigger schools, he says he believes the school's contribution to health insurance is one of the best in the state.
He also said he feels the current agreement is a fair compromise for both sides.
In the next two year contract, educators will receive a two percent increase to their base salary.
The increase will happen this year and there will be no increase next school year.
Employer contributions for health insurance premiums will increase by $100, taking them from $600 to $700 per month per full-time employee.
