An energy tour at MSU-Great Falls gave residents and business owners an opportunity to learn more about energy options on Saturday.

The Alternative Energy Resource Organization, AERO, sponsored the event.

Organizers say that MSU-Great Falls was the perfect location because it gave participants the chance to learn about the school's wind turbine, and say the event also helped teach about options available for smaller energy conservation projects for the home or business.

AERO Program Manager Sarah Lesnar said, "The ultimate goal is to get more people, to make more people more self reliant and be able to learn about these options and also to see first hand how they can get this in their own home or business."

Lesnar suggests starting small by cutting back on energy consumption.

She says this can be done by insulating the home and upgrading to energy efficient lights and appliances.

The switch will open the door for bigger projects like using solar and wind power to cover the energy needs of the home or business.
