The University of Montana Griz basketball team left for San Jose on Tuesday morning to play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Griz coach Wayne Tinkle said, "Our guys have been pretty giddy for the last six, seven days. I think it's starting to hit them now, it's time to prepare and they've done a nice job of staying focused. They're going to enjoy the fanfare here, the little parade to the airport, then we'll put it behind us and get ready to go," Head Coach Wayne Tinkle said.
Fans gathered on campus to send off the team, but once the team got to the airport, their flight was delayed and they ended up waiting for over an hour.
One young Griz fan waited the entire time just to wave goodbye as the team boarded the plane. As the team walked on the tarmac, some of the players yelled, "Here we go San Jose!"
The #14-seed Griz will take on #3-seed New Mexico at about 7:40 local time and can be seen on Montana's News Station.
