Brian John Temple of Helena, who was shot by a police officer last week, was wanted in connection with the theft of a downtown business.
Temple is now facing four charges in relation to last week's incident that occurred on Breckenridge and Rodney Streets.
In a complaint filed on Wednesday morning by the County Attorney's office, Temple is charged with felony assault on a peace officer for knowingly causing "reasonable apprehension of serious bodily injury" to Helena Police Sergeant Peter Callahan by use of a motor vehicle.
Temple was being questioned by the police officer at his probation and parole office for the theft of rare coins from the Wayne Miller Coin Shop when he fled the scene, driving away in his pickup truck.
According to Officer Callahan, he felt threatened by Temple and fired one shot into his windshield.
Temple then drove himself to St. Peter's hospital where he was stabilized and then flown to Benefis hospital in Great Falls for treatment.
He was last known to be in fair condition.
The other counts include obstructing a peace officer, criminal possession of dangerous drug paraphernalia, and theft by common scheme.
