People who enjoy dining at Jimmy John's restaurants in Montana can continue dining at the popular eatery without worry, according to Dan Stevens, the owner of the Missoula and Great Falls eateries.

An investigation is underway into a multi-state salmonella outbreak, possibly linked to sprouts served on sandwiches at Jimmy John's restaurants.

The outbreak has sickened dozens of people in 15 states, but as noted in yesterday's report, no cases have been reported in Montana.

We received an e-mail on Friday morning from Stevens, who explained:

As of yesterday the only Jimmy John's being looked at were in Illinois. Some of those stores' sprouts were tested, as well as their grower--all tests came back negative.

More importantly the sprouts for our Great Falls store are grown right here in MT. Right outside of Billings. I would like to stress that fact. Our sprouts are a few states and over 1000 miles removed from Illinois. Sprouts have not been taken off our local menu as we have encountered zero problems since our opening over a year ago.
