Nicole Fister of Kalispell is facing charges after being accused of stealing more than $90,000 from the Flathead County Sheriff's Office employees association.
Sheriff Chuck Curry says Fister, 36, who's a civilian employee with the Flathead County Sheriff's Office, has been charged with felony theft by common scheme in connection with the alleged incidents.
Fister has worked at the Sheriff's Office for the past nine years, and was the treasurer of the civilian employees association. Curry says that Fister was fired as soon as the alleged embezzlement was discovered.
According to Sheriff Curry, the case first came to light in mid-April and was investigated by department detectives and the Flathead County Attorney's Office.
The exact amount of money taken has not yet been determined, but it's believed to be in excess of $90,000, Curry says in a news release.
No public or Sheriff's Office funds were taken, but Curry pointed out the money raised by the employees association is used to support charitable causes.
