KPAX anchor Jill Valley diagnosed with breast cancer

If you don't see Jill Valley anchoring the evening newscasts on KPAX in Missoula or appearing on news features on other Montana's News Station broadcasts in the coming weeks, there is good reason. Jill just learned she has breast cancer.

She released the following statement on Facebook on Tuesday evening: "So, for those who don't know, a week ago I found a lump in my breast and five days later found out I have breast cancer. No history, no risky behavior, it's just there. I am still in shock. I'm having a mastectomy Wednesday with chemo to follow when I heal. I did just find out today it hasn't invaded other parts. THANK YOU GOD. But now the fight begins. Thank you for your well wishes. I will win!!!!"

All of us at Montana's News Station - KPAX, KAJ, KRTV, KXLH, KBZK, KXLF, and KTVQ - are extremely grateful for all the positive emails, Facebook messages, and phone calls we have received on her behalf. We all support Jill and her family as they face this uncertain time. She is receiving the best care available in Missoula.

Thank you for all your love and support. As Jill said "I will win!" and together, we will help make that happen.
