Helena's Last Chance Stampede and Fair kicked off on Wednesday, and a local non-profit, Youth Connections, is partnering with the Fair Board to make the rodeo a more family friendly event.
For the second year in a row, they have teamed up to create an alcohol-free section of the grandstands.
Youth Connections hopes by establishing these areas they can help change the culture of drinking in Helena.
Drenda Carlson Director of Youth Connections Director noted, "The connection between community events and alcohol - just the message that we don't necessarily have to have alcohol to have fun, and that we can certainly have fun at the rodeo in an area where alcohol is not being served or drank."
Last year Youth Connections and the Fair Board saw the seating area fill up, and they are hoping families take advantage of it this year, too.
Also on tap for Wednesday night is the country music band Sawyer Brown.
