An early morning accident at Rainbow Dam in Great Falls has claimed the life of a 44-year old man.
It happened around 8 a.m. at the construction site for a new powerhouse at the dam. Initial reports indicate the man was stuck or pinned under a truck.
We contacted PPL Montana, who owns the dam, who confirmed that the man was a sub-contractor on the project, but referred all further questions to the Cascade County Sheriff's Office which is still investigating the incident.
The victim's body was transported to the state crime lab in Missoula for an autopsy.
His name is being withheld until family members can be notified.
Construction on the powerhouse began last fall and is expected to wrap up in 2012; there are 200 people working on the $230-million dollar project, which is expected to double the amount of power the facility can produce.
