Nearly 1,000 people gathered in Helena on Saturday to launch the election season for 2010, as the 32nd annual Mansfield-Metcalf event brought in Democrats from all over Montana.
Hot topics in this years election are the state budget and corporate spending in campaigns, issues that the Democrats say they aren't shying away from.
Jim Elliot, Montana Democrats chair, said, "I don't think corporate money in politics benefits anyone but the corporation. They have an obligation to their shareholders. They do not have an obligation to the citizens."
Colorado Senator Mark Udall and Montana Senators Jon Tester and Max Baucus are slated to speak at the dinner.
Previous Mansfield-Metcalf dinners have included speakers such as Senator Barack Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton.
The Republicans will host their annual dinner in Helena on March 20th.
