The Montana Department of Transportation is seeking public comment on a proposal to improve the pavement surfacing along a portion of Central Avenue West.

The project, tentatively slated for 2011, would begin just west of Vaughn Road at reference marker 0.20, extend east for 0.6 miles, and end near 9th Street at reference marker 0.8.

Proposed work includes removing much of the existing raised median, milling the existing surface, applying a new overlay, and finishing with a seal & cover.

Updated signs and pavement markings would be included in the project, including a new two-way left-turn lane between Vaughn Road and 9th Street NW, and dedicated turn lanes at intersections. In addition, some sidewalks along the project will also be upgraded.

You can submit written comments to the Montana Department of Transportation Great Falls office at PO Box 1359, Great Falls MT 59403-1359, or at the MDT website. Be sure to reference Project CN 6957000 in your comments.
