Helena hosted a meeting on Tuesday to discuss medical marijuana. Some of the highlights of the meeting:
A member of the MT Board of Medical Examiners characterized the recent flurry of medical marijuana businesses, caregivers, and patients as the "Gold Rush of 2009."
City Attorneys from Bozeman and Great Falls stated that their primary concern is balancing state and federal laws on the subject of medical marijuana.
The Montana School Board Association discussed concerns facing schools, including students as card-carriers, possession on school grounds, and students who are high during class.
A mother and nurse urged officials to close the loopholes in the medical marijuana laws, adding that her son is an addict and that marijuana is a gateway drug.
After the meeting, a group of people stood outside the Capitol building and proceeded to smoke marijuana.
