MEA-MFT, a union representing over 18,000 public employees and teachers in Montana, has backed Dennis McDonald, a candidate for Montana's sole seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
This comes just after incumbent Representative Denny Rehberg voted against a recent jobs bill, which the Department of Education reports will save an estimated 700 teaching jobs in Montana.
Rehberg says he voted against the bill because it was a bailout for states like California. "Montana has a balanced budget, so it's beyond insulting to be forced to pay off California's debts," Rehberg says.
Eric Feaver, president of MEA-MFT, says McDonald understands the issues facing public employees and teachers.
"He stands in dramatic contrast to incumbent Congressman Denny Rehberg, who has rarely, if ever, been with MEA-MFT on our core issues," Feaver adds.
