One person is dead after a semi truck rear-ended a motorcycle on Interstate 90 just outside of Whitehall on Thursday around noon.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports the driver of the motorcycle, an Ohio man, was declared dead at the scene; the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
The 39-year-old semi-truck driver from Wisconsin sustained no injuries and was not taken to the hospital.
The two vehicles were headed westbound on I-90 near mile marker 238 when the semi hit the motorcycle from behind.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol, speed has been ruled out as a factor, but it has not yet been determined if alcohol was involved.
The accident is still under investigation.
