At MSU-Great Falls on Wednesday there was an academic competition between science and engineering students.
Four area schools entered 30 projects in the Montana Region Two Science and Engineering Fair.
Prior to the event, students had to pick a subject and then perform a scientific investigation and carry out the study.
Kathleen Rankin, Region 2 Science Fair director, explained, "The investigative principle itself is good development for a person for later in life, for anything that happens in life, and unfortunately we have to compete with sports and all the other things the kids are doing, but this seems to give them a venue to present."
Today's participating schools included Sunburst, Augusta, Cut Bank, and Great Falls High School.
The first and second place winners as well as one team will continue on to the Intel International Science Fair which will take place San Jose in May.
