The nation-wide search for Arizona fugitive John McCluskey and his alleged accomplice Casslyn Welch centered mostly around the East Glacier area and into southern Canada on Tuesday.

Authorities from several law enforcement agencies searched the St. Mary area for McCluskey and Welch, all because several people claimed to have spotted Welch at the Bad Frog Cantina Mexican Grill in St. Mary on Sunday.

Waitress Ladawn Wigington recalled, "She came in, sits down and says 'What you got for food?''"

Wigington was working at the Mexican restaurant on Sunday evening when she says a woman matching Welch's description came in; she said that the woman ordered a bean and cheese burrito and was talking to two other women at the bar and then left.

Wigington says the woman was wearing a denim dress, with a long-sleeve jacket and a straw hat. Other witnesses say the woman's hair looked lighter than the picture they saw, one saying it appeared the woman had either dyed her hair or was wearing a wig.

Some say she spoke of meeting a man and mentioned a cabin near Duck Lake, about a mile north of St Mary.

Lindsey Davidson, who works at Johnson's Cafe just down the road, said that she was eating tacos with a friend at the Bad Frog at about 4 o'clock on Sunday when the woman sat down next to her.

Davidson said that the woman "looked kind of crazy" and was wearing "layers" of clothing. Davidson said the woman looked "like a meth addict" and talked to the waitress about meeting a man in nearby Glacier National Park.

At the time, Davidson wasn't aware of the multi-state manhunt underway for Welch and escaped Arizona fugitive John McCluskey.

On Monday morning, Davidson glanced at a local paper and saw a picture of Welch and said that she "immediately" knew that it was the same woman she had encountered in the cantina on Sunday, telling KRTV that there was "no doubt" in her mind that the woman she had seen was Welch.

A man who performs karaoke at the cantina also saw the woman on Sunday. All three people - Wigington, Davidson, and the karaoke performer - agree that the woman they saw was Welch.

As the day wore on, however, it seemed the trail was leading authorities north to Canada, with several unconfirmed sightings of the fugitives being reported in southern Alberta.

The Calgary Sun is reporting on its website that Alberta police have received tips that Arizona fugitive John McCluskey and his alleged accomplice Casslyn Welch may have been spotted in that area.

"RCMP Sgt. Patrick Webb said there were calls from residents in the southern portion of the province that they had spotted the pair, but nothing is confirmable," according to the Calgary Sun's website.

Mounties have been working closely with U.S. authorities in the manhunt because the armed and extremely dangerous fugitives could possibly cross the border.
