The fund drive to help provide more low-income families with home ownership opportunities has come to an end in Great Falls.

Neighborworks kicked off the fund-raising two weeks ago, and last night volunteers held an event to announce that the drive netted $106,000. The amount was just a bit shy of the goal of $110,000, but organizers say they're very pleased with the total.

Laura Goldhahn, Neighborworks Fund Drive chairLaura Goldhahn, Neighborworks Fund Drive chair, noted, "You know, it's very heartwarming to see the support we get from the volunteers and from the community. Last night we did a volunteer recognition where we gave our volunteers pins for their years of service and some of those years of service went all the way up to 20 years."

For 30 years, Neighborworks has been helping low-income families apply for loans and work to improve their credit so they can own their own homes.

The program also revitalizes communities by building brand new properties.

More than 100 volunteers came together to raise money for the program this year.
