Becoming a first-time homeowner is a huge accomplishment on its own, but one Great Falls resident marked a milestone for the whole state with her move into her first home.

Myrtle Quincy tells us she feels blessed to be the state's first homeowner through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

It's a federally funded program to get foreclosed homes back on the market.

Neighborworks Great Falls, new homeowner mark milestoneMyrtle says giving her children a home of their own is a dream come true, adding, "I wake up every day just thinking 'Wow, this is great'. Finally got my own place and kids are happy and that's what's most important is that they're happy."

Al Henry, director of operations for Neighborworks Great Falls, explained, "Many times we have homeowners that we'd love to help but we can't provide them enough assistance to make it a reality and underneath this program we can."

Neighborworks Great Falls initially purchased and renovated the home.

Now they're working on five other foreclosed properties.

The Neighborhood Stabilization Program will allow them to renovate a total of 10 homes in Great Falls.

They encourage anyone interested in becoming a first-time homeowner to contact them as soon as possible.
