Geology students at Great Falls High School will be getting some new tools thanks to our weekly One Class At A Time grant.
This week, First Interstate Bank and KRTV surprised geology teacher Matt Krahe.
First Interstate Bank's Jessica Eby presented Krahe with a $250 check in front of a crowd of cheering students.
Krahe plans on using the money to buy a classroom set of rock and mineral guides to help his students identify samples in class.
The award caught Krahe by surprise because he didn't actually apply for the grant; he explained, "Actually, I didn't apply...I was nominated by Ms. Sanger here at Great Falls High. She noticed that we had been sharing a classroom set of these rocks and mineral collection books and it was a need here at Great Falls High so she nominated me for that, which is great."
With the new set of books, Krahe hopes to continue to enhance the curriculum in his class and get students to better understand the concepts of geology.
