Experts in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers are teaming up to encourage the next generation of professionals in their fields.

Last year's STEM Expo in Great Falls featured 160 students submitting real-life experiments..

Now, as work gets underway for the second annual event, organizers say community involvement is crucial.

STEM coordinator Mary Rearden says it ignites the students' enthusiasm to see the pros invested in their work, adding, "It means so much to our students to see how what they're doing in the classroom applies to real world projects and careers."

The April 21st expo is open to all students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Community professionals and judges are still needed for the event; to learn more, call, Rearden at 268-6642 or Luke Diekhans at 268-7338.
