Some Great Falls residents on the east side of town are in the dark due to a power outage that began late Friday night.
NorthWestern Energy confirms that a large power outage is affecting its customers in the area.
We're told the outage began around 10:30 p.m.
Crews are working to resolve the problem and hope to restore power shortly; they have not yet told us the cause of the outage.
Reports started coming in to KRTV shortly before 11 p.m.
Several people have left comments on the KRTV Facebook page saying that they heard several booms or loud pops, and then the power went out.
Olivia Blalock: 38th ave. and 9th ave S only one side of our street is out...on the north side of our block only.
Emily Milling Judkins: Pretty sure the transformers blew, up behind papa johns area. Our entire block and this part of neighborhood is out. I heard the 3 booms. One boom power went out, flickered than second boom, flickered again and the 3rd.boom and everything went dark.
Malorie Worth: No power on 4th ave south and 40th
Dawn Skerritt: Is everyone ok on the east end? No power in the blocks around 38th and 6 ave south -- a few booms, then silence. You can hear crickets chirping from 3 states away...
