The Missoula County Sheriff's Department has arrested a fugitive from South Carolina accused of murder.
Court documents say 38-year old Charles Welty and a co-defendant shot and killed James Horton in Summerville, South Carolina back in October of 1992.
A couple of weeks after the murder, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office received a call of a body found in a ditch on the side of a road. The investigation revealed Horton died of a single gun shot wound to the chest.
During an interview in Missoula, Welty admitted to his involvement in a sexual assault, assault, battery and the murder of James Horton.
Welty is scheduled to appear in Missoula Justice Court Monday afternoon.
