Monday marked the last day for applications to be submitted in the search for a new director of the Great Falls International Airport.

The current airport director, Cynthia Schultz, is allowed to re-apply for the position and is submitting her application today.

The airport board decided in October not to renew her current contract, sparking debate among Great Falls residents, with many arguing that Schultz has proven to be a very capable director.

Cynthia Schultz, director of Great Falls International AirportSchultz says she's received an outpouring of support from the community, airport tenants, and companies that the airport works with.

Schultz noted, "So in good faith I'm proceeding through the process and excited about the future of the airport and what I believe I can do to deliver continued positive results for the community and continue to serve the public in the capacity that I have."

The Florida-based company hired to do the search, ADK Executive Search, will start screening applicants and will have a short-list by the end of the month.
