Governor Brian Schweitzer is in China this week meeting with Chinese companies to discuss Montana exports.

Prior to embarking on the trip, Schweitzer said, "Emerging Asian economies are providing more markets for Montana products. This is an opportunity to sell Montana agricultural products and energy and create more jobs."

In a press release, Schweitzer said that he will be discussing potential export opportunities for Montana products, including wheat, durum, malting barley, hogs, platinum, palladium, copper, and energy.

He said that Montana is known as a high-quality source for these commodities, and China represents the fastest-growing market in the world.

Chinese business interests are exploring improvements in food security through more direct sourcing and investment in reliable agricultural product supply chains.
