The National Weather Service in Glasgow has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for portions of Valley County, Daniels County, and Roosevelt County; the warning is in effect until 4:45 pm.
At 3:31 pm, Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. The storm was located near Lustre, about 22 miles north of Wolf Point, and moving east at 20 mph. The severe thunderstorm will be near Bredette around 4:30 pm.
At 3:40 pm, Doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. These storms were located along a line extending from nine miles north of Richland to 12 miles southwest of Richland and are moving east at 25 mph. These storms will be near Richland at about 3:55 pm, near Peerless around 4:20 pm, and near the port of Scobey around 4:45 pm.
The NWS cautions that these are dangerous storms. If you are in their path, prepare immediately for damaging winds, destructive hail, and deadly cloud to ground lightning. People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building but away from windows.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight for much of northeast Montana.
