A young man was taken to Benefis hospital in Great Falls on Wednesday evening after falling head-first into the concrete of the Riverside Railyard skatepark.
Police were called to the park just after 8 pm.
Initial reports indicated the male was lying unconscious outside the entrance to the skate park.
A witness re-enacted the maneuver that the victim was attempting at the time of the crash.
He was reportedly riding his bicycle down the entrance ramp when he fell face-first onto the pavement.
His condition is not known at this time; authorities have not released his name or age.
Great Falls Police Sgt. Scott Van Every tells us that the victim was not wearing a helmet, which is a violation of City code.
City code also states that it is illegal to ride a bicycle in the skate park.
GFPD tells us the victim could face at least two citations.
Earlier this week, City officials had scheduled an "Open Discussion" meeting at the skate park to give people an opportunity to address issues facing the park and its users, including graffiti, safety concerns, and the possibility of opening the park to both skateboarders and BMX bikers.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 26th, at 5:30 pm at the park.
