UPDATE: the National Weather Service has extended the Significant Weather Advisory for Cascade County until 9:00 p.m.
The thunderstorm has the potential for deadly lightning, hail up to half-inch in diameter, heavy rain, and wind gusts up to 40 mph.
There are reports of scattered power outages in some parts of Great Falls, including portions of the Riverview neighborhood.
The National Weather Service has issued a significant weather advisory for northern Lewis & Clark, southeastern Teton, and western and central Cascade counties until 7:45 pm.
Doppler radar indicated that scattered strong thunderstorms were occurring across this region, and the storms were rapidly strengthening and weakening will little movement.
Hail up to one-half inch in diameter and wind gusts up to 40 mph are expected with this storm, along with heavy rain and frequent dangerous lightning.
Locations impacted include Fairfield, Simms, Vaughn, Ulm, Cascade, and Great Falls.
In addition, a Winter Weather Advisory for snow elevations above 6500 feet remains in effect until 6 am on Monday for areas along the northern Rocky Mountain Front.
Periods of light snow can be expected at times over the northern Rocky Mountain front for elevations above 6500 feet through tonight. The snow will affect travel across Going To The Sun Road at Logans Pass, along with any outdoor recreational activities at elevations above 6500 feet.
Total snow accumulations around an inch can be expected at Logans Pass, and 3 to 5 inches for elevations above 7000 feet.
