Great Falls Fire Rescue has taken 40 high school students from Sweden under its wing for a week-long training experience.

The students were split into four groups and have been rotating between different venues, learning hazmat techniques, rope rescue, auto extrication and emergency medical services.

Rovreit noted, "This is obviously something similar to what they've been doing back in their country, and it's the same, but different."

Most of the students, like Christopher Carlqvist, are aspiring firefighters and have also shadowed rescuers in their own country.

It's for that reason Great Falls Fire Rescue is especially interested in their trip.

Rovreit said, "Obviously they don't have a lot of experience because they're not in the field right now, but they've been introduced to a lot of stuff and just talking with them today...some of the equipment they use is different. That's our interest in this - in what they possibly do different as opposed to what we do."

The students still have more to learn in the Electric City, and Carlqvist says he and his peers are looking forward to the rest of lessons, noting, ""It's dangerous...not danger, adventurous. Lots of different things happens."

The students will be in Great Falls until Friday, and will then travel to other sites including Minneapolis, Chicago, and New York City.
