A 3-year-old child is dead after being run over by a truck at a Havre camping site on Saturday night.

The child, David Baxter of Marysville, Washington, approached the rear side of a nearby vehicle.

The 23-year-old driver was backing out of his spot in the Kiwanis Camp Lodge parking lot and did not see the little boy behind his Dodge truck.

The toddler received fatal head trauma injuries from the collision and died at the scene.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the driver was not traveling too fast and was not drinking, he just didn't see the boy.
