Wildfire burning NW of Helena triggers evacuations

Fire crews are responding to the Scratch Gravel Hills areas northwest of Helena for a wildland fire.

Reporter Melissa Anderson is on scene and says Lewis & Clark County Sheriff's deputies are going door to door to evacuate homeowners in the area.

The fire is in the area of Treasure Canyon Drive and Tumbleweed Drive.

Melissa says the wind is blowing and there are several volunteer fire departments on scene.

Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Spokesperson John Grassy says the state is responding with a helicopter to the area of Corral Road and Head Lane.
