Nearly 400 acres are burning in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.

Flathead National Forest Public Information Officer Denise Germann says the Cardinal Creek Fire is burning in the Gabe Creek and Jordan Creek areas in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.

She says Forest Service Trail Crews spotted the fire on Sunday afternoon and they believe the blaze was started from a lightning strike.

Smoke is visible from Seeley Lake and Swan Lake as well as from Augusta.

Germann says they are assessing the situation and no crews are currently on the ground.
