The Dominic Point wildfire near Hamilton has grown to more than 500 acres, and may have consumed up to 1,000 acres.
The fire was discovered on Sunday at around approximately 3:00 p.m. and is located 12 miles northeast of Hamilton.
More than 100 firefighters are battling the blaze along with four helicopters which are performing water drops and supporting ground crews. Another 20 person "hotshot" crew from Utah is scheduled to arrive late Monday.
Fire officials had to evacuate eight people on Sunday night from the area, including four people recreating near Burnt Fork Lake.
One of the evacuees, Dean Mendenhall, is a Stevensville District Fire Lookout who spotted the fire; he said, "I knew about this lightning strike ahead of time, I've been watching it for two weeks, but it hadn't done anything so it was figured to be out."
