Woman charged with criminal endangerment in Great Falls

GREAT FALLS - Desiree Ann Americanhorse has been charged with two felonies and several misdemeanors after her 3-month old child was allegedly dropped on the floor and sustained injuries.

Great Falls police received a report from a woman just before 3 a.m. on Friday that Americanhorse and the infant's father Tanner Kakalecik had arrived at her home drunk and started fighting over the baby, with each person trying to take the baby.

The baby was unsecured in his car seat, and fell about four feet onto the ground, according to the woman.

The baby landed on his stomach and face and sustained injuries that are not life-threatening.

About 30 minutes later, police pulled over Americanhorse as she was driving along 10th Avenue South. The officer saw the baby in an unrestrained car seat in the back seat of the car.

The officer reported that Americanhorse had bloodshot, glossy eyes, slurred speech, and smelled of alcohol, and there was an open container of beer in the car.

The charging document says that Americanhorse admitted to the officer that she had been drinking and playing "beer pong" at The Hideout.

Americanhorse was arrested and taken to the Cascade County Detention Center, where a breathalyzer revealed a blood alcohol content of .193, more than double the legal limit.

Americanhorse, 21, has been charged with two felony counts of criminal endangerment, one count of aggravated DUI, one count of DUI, no insurance, no driver's license, open container, and failure to properly restrain an infant.

Kakalecik is also facing one charge of criminal endangerment.
