UPDATE: The Davis Fire burning between Helena and Lincoln is now estimated at 2,050 acres and is 20% contained.
Over 220 fire personnel are working on the ground, while four helicopters fight the blaze by air.

The Raven Rat Patch Fire burning in northcentral Montana is now 95% contained, according to fire officials.The Type 3 incident command team that had been managing the fire handed over responsibility on Friday to the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. (More)

The Downing Mountain Fire burning west of Hamilton has grown to 300 acres and at least 50 homes or structures are being threatened, according to Tod McKay with the Bitterroot National Forest.

The Davis Fire burning northwest of Helena shrunk to about 2,000 acres over night. Stemple Pass remains open to residents only; officials have scheduled a public meeting for area residents at 8:00 pm on Friday evening at Canyon Creek School to update them on the situation. (More)
