SUNBURST --"We've been asked a bunch if we expected it or anything, and I don't think we expected to start this well," said Sunburst Head Coach Nate Aschim.

But the Sunburst Refiners are doing just that.

"Starting off my freshman year we won one game and then last year we won four so coming out this year and being 7-1, it's great. Just knowing we have a shot at the tournament," said Junior Logan Simmes.

If you're doing the math, in this season alone the Refiners have won more games than their last two seasons combined. And they're only halfway through.

"They put a lot of hard work in," said Aschim. "They've been put a lot of beating throughout the years. It's just nice for them to finally get some success."

It's not just some success. In their seven wins, Sunburst has defeated teams by an average of 45 points.

"It's been a long road. We've been building this program for eight years with Coach Aschim, said Senior Andy Ryan. "This year's been a lot of fun."

"We beg them to get in the gym in the off season and they did and they put a lot of work into it. It's nice to see that success is kind of a byproduct of all the hard work they've done," said Aschim.

According to Coach Aschim, there is another byproduct of all of that hard work, and it is affecting every team in the 10-C.

"It used to be people looked forward to coming to Sunburst and now that trip's not so much fun."
