HELENA -- Latasha Marie Amato, who police say was caught breaking into a business on Friday, has been charged with two felonies.
Amato, charged with burglary and criminal endangerment, appeared by video in Justice Court on Monday afternoon.
Amato is accused of breaking into a Billings Avenue business and taking a fuel credit card and a set of keys.
The 30-year old was confronted by the business owner while she was leaving the building.
Charging documents say that after she handed over the credit card to the owner, she got into her vehicle and, while trying leave, struck the building twice and then sped away, narrowly missing a witness who had to jump out of her way.
The business owner followed Amato as she left the area and stayed on the phone with 911 dispatchers, leading law enforcement officers to her location.
If convicted of the two felonies, Amato faces up to 30 years in prison and fines of up to $60,000.
