BOZEMAN -- Katlyn Dedycker, a newspaper delivery woman, is behind bars and accused of stealing more than $11,000 worth of gifts cards and other merchandise from mailboxes.

"We started getting reports of mail being stolen even back as early as November of last year," said Lt. Arlyn Greydanus with the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office.

Dedycker is charged with theft of property.

Authorities say 27 victims have been identified and Dedycker was arrested after an investigation that lasted several months.

Detectives say Dedycker would drive around, sometimes on her newspaper delivery route, and steal mail and packages.

A break in the case came when a stolen gift card was used at Target.

Detectives then laid a trap and planted a GPS device inside a package and put that package inside a mailbox in the Springhill area.

Investigators say Dedycker then stole the package and was later arrested.

She's being held on $50,000 bond.
