GREAT FALLS -

Janice Swanson of Great Falls has claimed a $100,000 prize in the Montana Millionaire lottery drawing.

Swanson bought her winning ticket at Peres Food Basket.

She claimed her winnings at Montana Lottery headquarters in Helena on Monday.

Swanson told Montana Lottery officials that she was driving home from church last month when she pulled into the Peres Food Basket store and bought one of the $20 tickets.

“I didn’t know what to think,” Swanson told lottery officials when she realized she won a $100,000 prize.

She didn’t know the ticket was a winner until she went back to the store a few weeks later. The clerk told her someone who bought their Montana Millionaire ticket at that location had won $100,000.

Swanson, a housekeeper at an assisted living center, said she checked her ticket twice when she got home to make sure the numbers were right.

Swanson, a 64-year old grandmother of eight, is a regular Montana Lottery player, but she has never won any prize this large.

She said she plans to share the money with family, pay off some debts, make some repairs to her home, and save the rest.

“I’m pretty humble and pretty conservative,” Swanson told lottery staff.

(December 29, 2015) Several people in Montana got a pleasant post-Christmas surprise on Tuesday when they found out that they had won some money in the Montana Millionaire lottery drawing.

The million-dollar ticket -- #125495 -- was drawn as the winner at Montana Lottery headquarters in Helena on Tuesday morning.

Two second-place prizes -- each worth $100,000 -- were sold in Great Falls and in Glendive.

One of three third-place $10,000 prizes was sold at the Conoco On Your Way convenience store in Great Falls.

Two of the three $10,000 prizes were sold in the Helena Valley. One was sold at Safeway in Helena, and the other was sold at the Town Pump on West Main in East Helena.

The winning East Helena ticket was bought by Christina Deyerle.

Deyerle told Montana Lottery officials that she was putting her son Corbin in his car seat when her husband called to ask if they won Montana Millionaire.

Sarcastically, she said, “No,” but then went to the Lottery’s Facebook page just to make sure - and much to her surprise, her number was indeed a $10,000 winner.

Dalton, Christina’s 5-year-old son, said, “Mom just yelled a little,” and Christina accidentally hung up on her husband.

Christina said this was her first big Lottery win, noting that she did win $4 on her stocking stuffer Scratch tickets.

She isn’t sure what she is going to do with the winnings; she told Lottery staff that it hadn’t really sunk in yet.

Christina said the only thing that’s set in stone is that Dalton gets $100; she said that he was even more excited than she was.

Here are the winning ticket numbers; none of the other winners have yet come forward to claim their prize.
