Reporter Brandon Sullivan introduces us to this month's Waiting Child.
Her name is Gia, and she is 14 years old.
She says she has had a rough life lately and to put it simply, just wants a place to call home.
"I waited, like a family that will care for me and give me courage and stuff. Giving me attention. More happiness instead of arguing and stuff," Gia said.
Even in the tough times Gia has tried to keep her focus on her school and her art - although she'll be the first to tell you that school is not necessarily her favorite.
"I like going to school, but I just mostly get bored. I like doing art though," Gia said. "I usually draw anime, but I am taking a break from it because I have been drawing it for awhile."
Next to her art and of course shopping is her desire to move to China - and for good reason.
"Because I love the Chinese food. My family members always tell me they don't like going to places like that, they mostly just stay home, watch[ed] TV, but I'm not that kind of person. I like to be active," Gia explained.
China isn't the only far away place she hopes to someday go: "I really want to go to Disneyland so I can meet Mickey Mouse because I am a big fan of him."
But in the end the greatest gift Gia hopes to receive is a family: "A family that will take care of me and will help me."
