What are the 10 safest towns in Montana?

What are the 10 safest cities in Montana? Safewise.com says it knows the answer.

The website -- which provides reviews and assessments of home-security systems -- compiled data using crime statistics from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Data from the FBI Crime Report reveals 2.72 violent crimes reported per 1,000 residents across the state, which makes Montana safer than the average American city, which reports 3.67 violent crimes per 1,000 citizens. In the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, violent crime is composed of four offenses:  murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

The 10 safest Montana cities on the Safewise list averaged just 1.8 incidents of violent crime per 1,000 residents - about 50% less than the average U.S. community.

Safewise only included towns with a population of more that 1,500 residents in 2012, and researched the most recent FBI Crime Report statistics. As a result, some small communities that have very low violent crime rates - such as Bridger and West Yellowstone - were not included in the ranking below.

The 10 safest cities in Montana also boasted property crime rates that are nearly half that of most American cities.
