BILLINGS -

Robert James LeCou, the man arrested Friday morning for the deaths of three people in Belfry, lived at the residence where the bodies were found for about six months.

That and other details were released Friday afternoon in court documents filed in Carbon County District Court charging LeCou with three counts of deliberate homicide.

According to the charging documents, two women and a man were found dead inside the house at 302 Iron Rail Alley in Belfry by Carbon County sheriff's deputies Thursday morning after a neighbor called for a welfare check.

The neighbor said he had not seen the occupants of the house since Tuesday. On Wednesday, the man said he knocked on the door and got no answer. He said he could see the television inside the house was on standby mode, which he thought was odd because the television was usually on.

The man called for a welfare check at about 6:30 a.m. Thursday when he saw that the television was still on standby mode. He told a deputy who was en route that four people lived in the house, including Robert James LeCou who had lived there for about six months. The man said LeCou was known as "Jim."

The neighbor's wife said LeCou had been at the Belfry Bar on Tuesday afternoon and had been refused service by the bartender. That evening, the woman said she saw LeCou leave the residence in a black pickup truck.

The deputy arrived at the house at about 7:40 a.m. The deputy reported that from the porch of the house he could see the body of a woman inside. The woman was on a couch and appeared to have injuries to her face and dried blood on her right shoulder.

The deputy walked around the house and looked in another window where he saw a pool of dried blood on a hallway floor and drag marks leading to another room. The deputy reported his findings and waited for the sheriff and a detective to arrive.

When Sheriff Josh McQuillan and the detective arrived they entered the house and found the woman on the couch dead from apparent gunshot wounds to her head.

A second woman's body was found in a bathroom. She was face down on the floor and also had apparent gunshot wounds to the head.

The body of a man was found in a bedroom. The body was in a bed and also appeared to have injuries to his head.

Surveillance video from the Belfry Bar and Belfry Store show LeCou with one of the victims on Tuesday afternoon, court records state.
